Rules & Regulations
These rules are in place to keep everyone safe. They apply to all riders, spectators, and guests on the property.
Registration
-
All members must complete a registration form before purchasing a membership. Members under 18 require signatures from both parents or guardians.
-
Speed waivers (with photo) must be completed yearly. Minors need both parents/guardians to sign. Anyone entering the track area — including volunteers and parents — must also complete one.
-
You must hold a valid membership or day pass to ride. Members are responsible for their guests' fees, waivers, and behaviour.
-
Members should politely inform non-members of the pass requirement. Non-compliance will be handled professionally; RCMP may be contacted if necessary.
Riding Safety
-
Required gear at all times: DOT-certified motocross helmet, goggles, riding boots with ankle support, and gloves.
-
Ensure your bike is in proper running order — mechanical failures can cause serious injury or death.
-
Walk the track and ride a slow warm-up lap before riding at full pace. The track runs counter-clockwise.
-
If you stop on the track, pull well off to the side. Never stop between a jump and its landing. Enter at the designated entrance only.
-
Never ride alone. Use the buddy system.
-
Do not ride while maintenance equipment is on the track, in the parking area, or on the Derby/Event area.
-
No riding while impaired. No alcohol or drugs on the property.
Track Hours
Open sunrise or 8:00 AM (whichever is later) to sunset, seven days a week — unless closed for maintenance, race events, weather, or end of season. Use your best judgment on muddy conditions.
Minors & Beginners
-
All minors (under 18) must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
-
The 50cc Beginner Track is for beginners on 50cc bikes, Stacyc bikes, or equivalent only.
-
Small bikes and full-size bikes should not practice at the same time — please take turns.
Spectators
-
Stay a minimum of 30 feet from the track and obey all signage.
-
Proceed directly to the centre viewing area or back out — the walkway is not a spectator area.
-
The tower is for race officials only.
Vehicles & Quads
-
No quads on the motocross track (insurance regulations).
-
4x4 quads and side-by-sides are only permitted for authorized personnel. If crossing the track, go straight across — not at an angle.
Camping & Grounds
-
Campfires in raised pits in designated areas only, subject to local fire regulations. Keep small; extinguish when unattended.
-
No black or grey water release on site — dump stations available at Canadian Tire and Big Fish Bay.
-
No fireworks. Pets on leash at all times; clean up after them. Pack out your garbage or use the bins provided.
Conduct
-
Violence, abuse, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
-
All members are expected to help host club races unless circumstances prevent it.
-
Members are encouraged to attend club night.
-
Report any serious incidents to a board member immediately.
Gate Protocol
Close the gate (don't lock it) behind you as you arrive. The last person to leave locks the gate.
The Slave Lake Motocross Association and its executive members are not responsible for any injuries or death that may occur on or off the property.
